About Teeth

Why are baby teeth important? Well, primary teeth serve many functions. For instance, primary teeth are vital to chewing, speaking, singing, smiling and saving space for the permanent teeth. Itís true baby teeth will begin to fall out at around six years of age. However, the last baby tooth will not usually fall out until after age 12. Removing or losing a primary tooth before the permanent tooth is ready to grow into the mouth may cause other teeth to shift resulting in a crooked smile, make it difficult or impossible for the new tooth to grow into the mouth or worse, negatively affect the ability to speak clearly or chew food properly.
